Helena, Montana Speed Traps
Canyon Ferry Village
There is a 25 MPH speed limit sign at the bottom of a hill as you approach the village. Your momentum will easily have you traveling over 40. Cops will be hiding behind the Bureau of Reclamation buildings. Even if you have slowed to 25 by the time you are in the Village you will be stopped.
Country Club Lane just beyond Joslyn
LEO will sit just past the little hill to catch you if you accelerate early from the 25mph corner off of Joslyn to the 35mph limit by Spring Meadow Lake. They are there often.
US Highway 12 near Anywhere
Anywhere along US 12 in East Helena is fair game. The road was built for 55-60 mph, but the limit is 45.
If the cop isn’t catching people on the 2 mile stretch of 12, then he’s probably on Main Street (25 mph), Wylie Drive (very quick 55-45-35-25 mph change as you enter East Helena), or Lake Helena Drive (mostly 35, but 20 mph near the school). Beware!

Henderson Avenue near Capital High
I’ve been pulled over twice by the same motorcycle cop. The speed limit on Henderson changes from 35 to 30 right past the train tracks. He waits under the tressel. He is entirely too eager to give out a ticket to people who haven’t slowed to 30. But get this…where he stops you, it hasn’t changed to 30 yet. I didn’t get a ticket either time because I stood up to him. This guy is stopping people that aren’t speeding. I have put in a complaint at the station, but in this town, I doubt anything will come of it.

Park Avenue near Euclid Avenue
The black and white sits at the north end of the convention center parking lot facing Euclid. The speed limit on Park is 25mph. I’ve never been stopped but I see him there every morning on the way to work.
