Omaha, Nebraska Speed Traps
Abbott Dr and N 6th st
Cop sits on the North side of N 6th, with a radar gun, he’s usually there towards the end of the month
Chandler Road between 144th & 156th Street
Odd area with residential and industrial but the speed limit is 25 MPH. Giles road is closed due to construction so if you take Chandler, use your cruise control! The radar is set up at Lathrop St. and Sarpy County Sheriff sits on easement on 150th. Nobody on the road but I got nailed by Sarpy County Sheriff making money for the county! Know it is a 25 MPH but was not feeling well — did not even think I was speeding or I would have hit the brake. He let me go 6 blocks before pulling me over. Told me he had me on radar and video going 40! I thought he would give me a warning, but he did not.
Northbound 96th between Harrison & Q
Motorcycle cops sit on the East side of 96th with radar, in an apartment complex just south of Park Drive, and catch you coming down the hill. Speed limit is 35, but all adjoining roads are 45, if you just coast, you will be pulled over so you have to brake the entire way.
Morning and evening rush hours are the most prevalent times, though I’ve witnessed them sitting around for an entire weekend, trading out shifts.
13th & Chicago
13th St is one way North from Capitol Avenue. Cops sit there during afternoon rush hour. Speed limit is 25.
