Reno, Nevada Speed Traps
Wells overpass Southbound at 2nd Street
Heading Southbound over the Wells overpass hump it’s very easy to pick up speed and exceed the 35 MPH speed limit by 10-20 MPH. The limit drops to 30 MPH at Wells and 2nd. Motorcycle officers often sit in plain sight in the convenience store parking lot or the alley ajacent to the store.
Kings Row
Bike cops and patrol cars sit on the sides of kings row and also at the entrances to the streets just before McDonald. They sit on the left side under the trees and poach. Especially during the summer months. Other than that one, watch out in the school zones near clayton middle school!!!!!
Redrock Road north of town just north of sign change to 40
It’s about 8 miles out after you exit 395 at the Redrock exit. Years ago the road changed to gravel just after passing Antelope (northbound) and the posted speed went from 50 to 40 at that pavement change. Over the years the road has been paved, miles and miles of shoulder improvement have been done, guardrails installed but the county just won’t match the 50 mph of the afore mentioned paved section. So…the local deputies have a "feeding frenzy" in the first long straight section after the change to 40 mph. They are able to "shoot fish in a barrel" because 80% of the residents using the road drive at a reasonable and prudent speed and usually don’t even slow down when they see a deputy, everyone thinking how stupid it is not to have changed those signs yet! People are looking into the matter, in the mean time slow down and don’t give ’em your bucks!
Mill St, across from Renown Hospital, east of Pickett Park
On Mill Street, just west of the Kirman St cutoff, across the street from Renown Hospital is a school zone. Motorcycle cop sits on south side of street and waits. Because of the stoplights, and lane changing for the intersections, many motorists forget it is a school zone. Beware!
Plumas 1 block So. of Moana
Motorcycle cops sit on the private Peckham Rd. under the shade of the trees. I see them at least 4x per week.
