Nassau, New York Speed Traps
State Route 20 near past toma tire bottom of hill
he sits by the dumpster and points his nose towards the hill careful he sits there a lot and snags a lot of people
State Route 135
Mostly northbound on 135 starting at Southern State Parkway going up to Jericho Turnpike. Cops are everywhere always pulling people over here.
Meadowbrook Parkway near Southern State Parkway
On the Meadowbrook Parkway, if you’re going northbound, it’s right by the entrance to the Southern State going west, where people like to speed in that lane, then, just at the point where a cop (OR TWO!) would be sitting, jump into the middle lane to keep on the Meadowbrook. There’s a rather open area that cops like to sit and wait for victims…it seems rather open so you don’t expect it, but there are blindspots leading up to it, and if you’re a speeder, it’s usually too late when you both notice each other. If you’re going southbound, then it’s immiediately after the Southern State entrance, just after the merge of two lanes into three. In both instances, northbound and southbound, the trap is in the center. Cops are also known to be stationed about a half mile past this mile, due to the bust point is hardly a secret any longer.
State Route 20 near State Route 203
Anywhere on Routes 20 or 203 within the village of Nassau limits. Village police show no mercy. Patrol mainly evenings on weekdays and all day on weekends.
Route 20 – between the Stewart’s Store & the Catholic Church
The Village of Nassau is notorious for their speed traps. While you can be nailed at any hour, the locals love to park in the one of the following three locations: Stewart’s Store parking lot facing west; the Mobil gas station, both directions as well as monitoring the one and only traffic light in town; and the Catholic Chuch parking lot, both directions (the speed limit drops from 55 MPH down to 35 MPH. The road is heavily traveled by comuters going from Pittsfield, MA to the Albany, NY. It’s a guarantee the locals will be out in force on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday nights, particularly between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.
