Saratoga Springs, New York Speed Traps
Lake Ave. just east of East Ave.
This road is sign posted 15 mph during school days from 7am to 6:30 pm. Cops sit across from St. Clements school and catch people going faster. Everybody drives well over 15 mph in this area, so it is very low hanging fruit for the cops.
Union Ave.
At the end of track season (around September) the local police will set up a huge speed trap on Union Avenue from the intersection at East Ave. down to the Yaddo gardens entrance. Starting at sundown several (4-5) police cars will sit on the grass in the center divider facing both directions of traffic. They will pull over only sport or high end luxury vehicles. (Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes, wrx’s, 300zx’s, Cadillacs, BMW, etc…) The speed limit is posted at a sluggish 30mph (which is way too slow for that area anyway), and most of traffic is flowing at 35 – 40. Sometimes the cops will let people that are local residents off easy with a non-speeding ticket, but they are really trying to squeeze every last bit out of the track tourists. At the expense of the local residents, of course.
streets surrounding Gideon Putnam Hotel
Officer lurked at night in dark. Speed limit drops dramatically as enter park and at night the signs are virtually invisible. Seem to target out of state drivers staying at hotel.
Betwn Exit 13&14 there is an un-numbered southbnd on ramp
NYSP often park on this ramp running laser or ka targeting south bound Rte 87 traffic…other then that the ramp is an excellent way to leave the Racino or the flat track and avoid Rt9
I-87 N&S between exit 16 and 17
Between these two exits traveling either north or south, there is a unmarked turn around in the median. The turn around is all tree covered and will hide their cars very easily.
