49 Throughout Harrisburg

Harrisburg, North CarolinaApr 16, 20101 Comments

The speed limit goes from 45 to 55 to 35 to 45 to 50 to 55 when driving this 7 mile stretch through Harrisburg – no kidding!!! The police know this is confusing and has received SEVERAL complaints, however, they have done nothing to make the speed limit more consistent. I have not been ticketed since I live here and I’m VERY familiar with what the speed limit is by the block. But out of towners seem to not realize this. The police STALK this stretch of road EVERY DAY. There has not been one day that I can remember, when I didn’t see SOMEONE pulled over. Be careful!

Stallings Rd & Craighead Rd

When turning off Rocky River Rd onto Stallings Rd, the speed limit drops to 35 as you go to climb the hill. Once you come over the hill, don’t be surprised to see a Cabarrus County cop at the intersection of either Craighead Rd or Deer Dr. The speed limit is only 35 in that small area, and once you get past those roads, the speed limit goes back up to 45.

Any where along Morehead Road. There are a few spots where the speed limit goes from 35 to 45 to 35. I was caught on radar as he was driving in the oncoming lane of traffic. My husband was ticketed twice along that stretch.

Hickory Ridge Road near Rocky River Road

Mostly State Patrol but some local enforcement. They are there most anytime of the day but most especially at night (heavy on the weekends). They really like to hide in the Telephone shack driveway and the new school entrance. This is the stretch of Hickory Ridge that runs from the RR tracks in Harrisburg down to where it crosses Rocky River. Hickory Ridge crosses Rocky River Rd and continues down several more miles and they love to sit down on that end in the dark on the curves. The speed limit is 45 MPH and they will usually pull you if you are doing more than 49 MPH

They sit in the grassy median between Harrisburg Rd and Rocky River Rd and they will get you. The speed limit is 65 but usually traffic flow is around 75.
