Holly Springs, North Carolina Speed Traps
Piney Grove-Wilbon Rd near intersection of Ralph Stephens Rd
Speed limit changes from 45 mph to 35 mph and police sit near that intersection waiting for drivers who haven’t reduced their speed after the 35 mph sign
Avent Ferry Road between 55 and Braxton Village
Because the road curves and goes up and down hills (east of the schools) there are lots of places for cars to hide. You can’t see them until it’s too late. The speed limit was dropped a few years ago from 45 to 35. It’s common to see cars in front of the Primrose daycare (where you can’t see them from either direction until it’s too late) or parked in the entrances to the Holly Glenn subdivision.
Sunset Road around Sunset lake area
Across from church facing shopping center, by sunset ridge pond, on old bridge by sunset lake, across from Sunset lake in bushes. Speed limit should not be 35 in this area
Holly Springs Rd at Holly Ridge Middle School
Holly Springs PD sits, with marked or unmarked cars usually, but not always in the eastern most entrance and waits. There are high hedges blocking the view of them but 3 out of 5 times or so they are there. Speed limit is 35 but that’s easy to exceed.
Bass Lake Road near Bass Lake
This speed trap is in a curve at the bottom of a long downhill stretch of Bass Lake Road. The curve is adjacent to the dam and public recreation area at Bass Lake. The speed limit on this section of road was recently changed from 45 mph to 35 mph. L.E.O.s typically wait in a blind spot beyond the curve and clock motorists as they come into view.
