Statesville Road near Gilead Road

Statesville Rd is 45 MPH in Huntersville except for the area near the intersection of Gilead Rd. The HPD officers love to park out there and catch people who do not drop their speed to the 35 MPH posted limit. I have seen people get ticketed going both north and south on that road so keep your eyes open for them. I’ve even had a HPD officer tell me that they issue a lot of tickets in that general area.

McCoy Road near Beatties Ford Road

Police cars sit anywhere from 3 feet off road to 20 feet off road. Behind bushes, trees, in unused driveways or where ever they are able to block the view of on coming drivers. For over two miles there are no speed limit signs ! Between Beatties Ford Road, and Piedmont Gas Company, on McCoy Rd.

Between exits 18 and 23, there are spots in the median in between the trees. cops are always there.Especially now that there is construction going on.when driving north or south on I 77,be careful between these exits.you can see the spots they hide in when you drive by in the daytime.the speed limit is usually 65,but do to construction it is 55.there are enforcing this very strictly so be carefull untill you get past this five mile stretch.
