Highland Road near US Route 20 Euclid Avenue

Euclid, OhioMay 14, 20050 Comments

Going up or down Highland Road Hill between Euclid Avenue (US20) at the bottom and Georgetown Road at the top usually finds the Euclid Police running oncoming radar out of a moving unmarked car. These cars are always dark in color and have a blue magnetically mounted (single gumball)light on the top which they stick on the roof off to the side rather than puting it in the center. They always drive in the lane adjacent to the double yerllow lines on this four lane highway and shoot pulse radar at the oncoming traffic. They like to drive up the hill running radar as they go and when they get to the top they make a U-turn right on the hill and then go back down again running radar all the way. They do this over and over again and keep running up and down the hill until they can catch someone. The speed limit is 35 on the hill but everybody likes to do (a safe) 50 and they know it.

The trap is located on the left hand side of Rt 2E and Rt 2W. There is a patch of gravel that sits in between the two directions. Usually between Thursday and Saturday evening and night, there is usually a intercepter sitting off in this area patiently waiting for you to come flying through. At night its hard to see because their cruisers are either dark maroon, green, or blue. Its about 2mi from the Cuyahoga/Lake county border on Rt. 2 East

Richmond Road, between Euclid Road and I-90 On-ramps.

Worst situation results when a vehicle decends northbound and through the intersection lights at Richmond and Euclid Roads. Motorist follow a bend to the right and are confronted with a "School Zone" sign, citing 20 MPH as the speed limit for posted hours. From that intersection to the school zone, around the bend, you have less than 60 feet to slow down from the regular 35 MPH. You are still coming down a hill at that point! Consequently, during rush hours, rear-end collisions are common. Also, the officers don’t always abide by their posted time parameters. If motorists appear to be abiding by the 20 MPH, the unmarked silver or black cruiser will patrol back and forth, frantically, from I-90 to Euclid Ave, seeking violations. My ticket was $145.00 ($20.00 of which was added because I appeared in court, using court time.) I now detour to Babbit Road.

Patrol cars hide in parking lots attempting to catch speeding driver as they exit/enter the highway. A complete waste of city resources.

The police car is usually a new Impala unmarked dark blue or gray in color. They sit way up on the grass north of the highway hiding behing little trees waiting to nab any unsuspecting motorist.Be very careful when driving thru this city..they give out tickets as if were going out of style..LOTS..and LOTS of revenue is generated by this city in this way.Sometimes a whole heard of unmarked police cars sit at every exit off I-90 waiting to hand out their expensive welcome to our city..pay at the window ..welcome prizes.
