15 miles West on I-40 at bridge construction site, both ways

El Reno, OklahomaMay 08, 20160 Comments

Signs warn or construction, drive with caution, etc. Then you see “Slower Vehicles Keep Right” sign. Then “Merge Now – State Law” sign, followed by “No Passing”, then the Merge Lane tapers off a long ways down the road. When Patrol Cars are setting behind the barrels, motorist form a conga line all the way back behind the merge now signs, vehicles follow too closely to let anyone in the passing lane in, if you head for an opening beyond the Merge Now sign, you get a $211.50 ‘Merging after the Merge Now Sign” ticket. If the Patrol Vehicles aren’t hiding there, traffic goes through the construction zone more efficiently and merging spots aren’t compromised. Very dangerous situation just to collect money from motorists. Not too bright. If it’s illegal to pass in a merge zone, then why would slower vehicles have to keep right??

The cops will hide under the overpasses behind the yellow barrels. They will stop you for doing 3 mile an hour over just so they can search your car. Watch out for these guys.
