Hwy 69 @ Hereford Lane

The state and city will set up 6 or 7 cars on the south side of the intersection and put an officer on top of the bridge on Hereford Lane. You will not see the police cars until after you have passed the bridge and been hit by radar. it is in the 65 MPH zone prior to the city limits. Also be careful once you get to electric Avenus, the speed limit changes to 55 and on down to 50 MPH and it is an extremely lucrative area for the city police.

Under the bridge near Wal-Mart.

They will set up a road block to stop for seat belt violations and anything else they are able to get you for.

The Town Loop near State Highway 69

McAlester, OklahomaApr 17, 20080 Comments

This Town i used to live in is littered with patroling officers. The Speed Limits Range from 30 – 40 MPH. 33 in a 30 zone is asking for a ticket. I am used to driving at faster speeds on the same type of roads so when i visit in McAlester I have to be careful not to travel the smallest amount over the speed limit. The City limits also covers the strech of Hwy 69 that goes through town. The is the worst of it. Speed limit is 50 MPH and is strickly enforced by city police and not the Hwy Patrol. Officers are hiden off the Hwy and are just waiting for a speeder.

US Highway 69/75

McAlester, OklahomaMar 19, 20061 Comments

On south bound US69, McAlester has a speedtrap going strong. Before you get to town, at the top of the hill the speed limit rapidly decreases from 70 to 55MPH on the downhill side. Note – this is several miles from where the town actually begins and is a four lane divided highway with limited access. This is not for public safety – strictly fund raising!
