Ninnekah, OklahomaJun 05, 20111 Comments

They park in two places:
On east side of road just south of city limits sign.
Also 1/2 mile north of US 81 they hide near the trees on the west & east side of 16th st.
Limit is 45mph and it is easy to go 60mph with realizing it.

South of the flashing light on Hwy.81 & Hwy.277

Just south of the flashing light at the intersection of Hwy. 81 & Hwy.277 (Valero station on NE corner) the Ninnekah officers will park in the median without any lights on at all, (which seems like a safety hazard) between the flashing light and the bridge. This area is where the speed limit changes either up or down depending on which direction you’re traveling. We have been pulled over many times, never cited but often have had to endure having our vehicle searched both by the officers and their "drug dog". One time in particular they pulled us over for a burnt out fog lamp… we explained that we had the new one in the vehicle but hadn’t installed it yet, they had us sit with our hands on the dash, then wanted to search the vehicle, the "drug dog" alerted on our trunk which the officers then proceeded to thoroughly search, we were just returning from a 3 or 4 day visit out of state and they went through every piece of luggage. I informed them that I had a take-out container with my leftover dinner in the trunk and that maybe their dog was alerting on that but they continued to sort through everything in the vehicle. Meanwhile, we had to stand outside against the patrol car for over 1-1/2 hours!!! After all this we were allowed to leave & when I started straightening up the vehicle from being rummaged through, I looked under one of the seats & found the new fog lamp… in their vigorous search they didn’t even find it!!! Isn’t that comforting??!!

the city has a low tax base. no water or sewer income. the city is well over the 50% income from the police tickets. if there is a construction zone they will be two or three in the zone for the purpose of double fines.
