Willowdale Avenue near Steeles Avenue

North York, OntarioJan 26, 20080 Comments

Willowdale Ave, east of Yonge St, south of Steeles Ave. It continues south until Sheppard Ave. All along the way there are many, many little side streets. A lot are not easily seen from a distance or have trees concealing them, making for the perfect hideout. I really consider Willowdale Avenue one of the granddaddies of speed traps because not only do cops frequent this road, they have dozens of little streets to choose from. I have never been caught myself, but have been on the street countless times, either spotting a cruiser on a side street, driving by one who’s already stopped someone, and even seeing a cop race out from his/her hideout, lights flashing, pulling people over. That’s how I know to take it easy. The posted speed limit is 50km/h but rarely do people follow it (all told not an overly-strict limit because there are houses/small businesses on either side). Cops use radars and lasers and can zap you from a distance OR even as you’re driving passed the street they’re sitting on. So basically this road is a speed trap in its Entirety.
