Scarborough, Ontario Speed Traps
South of Tim Hortons and Home Depot. Newly added 60 to 50km zone. As you go under the bridge behind the Home Depot . Both directions there’s a park and a Jewish cemetery, they hide either spot catching speeders.
The cop just sits in a nearby drive way just west of Birkdale rd and waits for speeders traveling westbound on Ellesmere. This stretch road is very long and wide so most people speed here.
The speed limit was recently changed from 60kmph to 50kmph. As you head north on McCowan and approaching on the east side, Bridlegrove Dr., they are there with their radar gun, waiting for anyone coming down the incline, as they pass Colonial Avenue eastbound.
Speed drops from 80 to 60 @ town line, but the signs are blocked & the police know this. Start to head East up the hill, 2 lanes to one, and the cops sit there..so many trucks on this road that you cannot see the speed drop signs when driving in the left lane. I got ticketed and the cops told me they knew the previous signs were blocked by foilage.
There are two locations on this stretch of road. The first is just after passing under the Danforth Ave. overpass. They sit in a driveway access to Variety Village. The other is just past Birchmount Stadium.
