Bend, Oregon Speed Traps
US Highway 97 North near Weigh Station
This trap is Northbound only, Outside of Bend. As you go down Lava Butte Pass about 1.5 miles past the Forest Service campground and vistior center, you will be in two lanes with a divider from the souhtbound lanes. As you go down the kinda steep hill, there is a little dirt road on the right hand side. Sometimes OSP uses it as a radar trap during communting hours, but then they are close to the road and visible. What’s sneakier is the sheriff’s office shooting laser through the trees so they are almost impossible to see. They park farther back on the dirt road and have a line cut through the brush so it is real hard to see. Look for a speed limit sign on the way down and then try to look through the bushes on the right. This is maybe 2 miles before the big weigh station. Sheriffs are out mostly on nice weekends or other times with lots of tourists.
