Interstate 79 near Interchange Rd. exit

Erie, PennsylvaniaDec 06, 20030 Comments

In the Northbound lane of 79 right before the Mill Creek Mall exit State trooper sit on the left shoulder. There is a curve to the road and you don’t see them until it is too late. The speed limit also drops from 65 to 55 right before where they sit. Stupid me didn’t learn the first time and got 2 tickets there! However the second one was 7 years later.

Pa. troopers will either sit in median strips or quite commonly hide behind bridge ‘columns’ or embankments. Their radar is not set-up as ‘moving’ radar, they have to be sitting.

Police sit in median and "clock" motorist in both north and south bound lanes. Terrain is such that police cannot be seen from either direction untill you are right on them

Radar with 4 or 5 State and Local Police standing off the road when the speed drops from 55 to 35. They will get you on radar then walk into the roadway and flag you over.
