Gaffney, South Carolina Speed Traps
schp will sit on the on ramp clocking north bound traffic, you wont see them and the overpass blocks radar until its too late
going north on hwy 18 just as you enter gaffney its 45 the road goes to four lanes and the speed limit drops, after the red light you top the hill and there they are in the median
After crossing I-85 heading North on highway 18, the speed limit is 35 for about 1/2 mile until it changes to 55. There is a small pull off on the right just past I-85. State troopers sit there with hand held radars. I have been warned there once (42 in a 35) and wife got a warning. The trooper claimed she was doing 50 (she was heading South on 18) but she was only doing 35 at the time. The trooper must have clocked her before she reached the 35 MPH zone sign. This area is heavily patrolled so watch your self!
at the intersection of Rutledge and Overbrook Dr. set up on the traffic island behind the big Oak tree in the curve. Also just up the road about a 1/4 mile in the curve next to B.D. Lee Elementary School.
If you are driving ANYWHERE on Interstate 85 in Cherokee County on Interstate 85 watch out! South Carolina State Troopers shoot advanced speed lasers on the top of bridges, overpasses and on entrance ramps. I been told very few radar detectors can capture this signal; and if it does, its already too late! I’ve seen 5 or 6 troopers park on entrance ramps and just wait, and they do not write warnings. If you see the peach water tank/tower do the speed limit! Myself, family, and a lot of other people I know have been written tickets near the 95MM.
