17A and Hunts Street

This backwards town and its corrupt court and police aim the radar gun at your car before you pass the 45 and 35 mph signs. They then ticket you $157 for going 50 in a 35 even if you were under the speed limit at all times. The officer just sits there and writes tickets. When I called the court, the first woman laughed and told me that I was caught in their speed trap. When I called back, some hick told me that they didn’t have any speed traps and that I should drive 800 miles to appeal the ticket.

Avoid South Carolina at all costs.

Traveling southbound on 17A near or at Yemassee, patrol car is positioned at an abandoned gas station on the right side of the road as you come out of a slight curve in a 35mph zone. Just beyond the trap, within view, the speed limit moves up to 45mph and shortly thereafter up to 55mph… lots of open straight rural road in the windshield.

Highway 17A south approaching Lacey St (blinking light downtown)

Travelling 17A southbound, the Speed Limit drops from 55 to 45 to 35 in a short distance. As one is decelerating to go through this small town, the local police is downrange from the 35 mph sign, with radar pointed backward to the point you cross into 35mph territory. He positions himself in a local car repair lot among many vehicles that seem to always be sitting there (covering up his position).
