Bristol, Tennessee Speed Traps
All Bristol Tennessee police cars are equipped with mobile radar. So even if they are patrolling an unlisted Speed Trap — they still have you. If you see him, he already has you – mobile or stationary.
An officer routinely sits in the parking lot of the Avoca Branch Library monitoring south bound traffic. The speed limit is 35 MPH and is approaching a 45 MPH speed zone. Vehicles are stopped regularly traveling at over 50 MPH.
Speed Limits leaving the residential area are still at 25 mph increasing to 35 mph before you get to the 394 Bypass. These are ludicrous. The speed limits should be at least 35 mph to 45 mph for the same exact areas.
There is a church located on Weaver Pike called Bellemeadows Baptist Church. They will sit in the church parking lot or below the church in the City of Bristol parking lot and catch you as you come up or down Weaver Pike
Traveling East around King College on King College Road just before Booher Road the police sit on the side road (East State Street)with radar in hand. The posted speed limit is 25 mph however traveling at a slightly higher speed is safe. The entire road around King College is considered a School Zone even though it is not posted as such. So you get a ticket for speeding and it is for speeding in a school zone. Be vigilant!
