Maryville, Tennessee Speed Traps

This highway is know as a speed trap due to tourists going to the mountains.

US 129 is a curvy mountainous road loved by motorcyclists for it’s natural beauty and challenging curves. More than one cyclist dies there each summer from excessive speed/lack of skill. The Blount County Sheriff’s Department is in full force on summer weekends. They will not tolerate crossing double yellows.

Coming from Lenoir City toward Maryville. Officers like to sit at the entrance to a new industrial park on the right, just past William Blount Drive. Maryville’s cruisers are black and white, with some unmarked, though many unmarked aren’t radar equipped. The speed limit drops from 65 to 55 and Maryville WILL pull you over for exceeding 55. It drops further as you near Foothills Mall Drive intersection. Don’t run a traffic light, they’re everywhere.
