Riverside Drive near Interstate 55 North

Memphis, TennesseeJun 20, 20081 Comments

Interstate 55 North effectively stops at Crump Blvd. All traffic going north exits the freeway onto Crump Blvd to cross the Mississippi River. Where I55 stops on the Memphis side of the river it ends and turns into Riverside Drive as the road goes under Crump Blvd and the railroad bridge, the speed immediately drops from 55MPH to 40MPH. The traffic that does not exit to cross the river on I55 goes under Crump Blvd and the railroad overpass and the view is blocked. A Memphis Police officer sits just pass the underpass to issue tickets. Travel on Riverside drive is preferred for quite a number of tourists since the Mississippi River flows next to Riverside Drive and a city park affording a view of the river and barge traffic.

240 eastbound side Loop near Interstate 40 to lamar

Memphis, TennesseeMay 08, 20080 Comments

This normally occurs in the early morning hours between 3 and 4 A.M. It is also when most employees at FED-EX are leaving work. Officers sit in the emergancy lanes right and left, with there lights off. From a distance it looks like a broken down car untill youre up on them and see there lights across the top of the car. They normally shot you form there rearview mirror.YES thats right the mirror! The speed limit is 55 on the loop, why it is not 60 or 65 I have no idea. The average speed of the 240 loop is 70 at any givin time of the day.Be mindful if youre out late be it comming form work or a night out downtown. They will write you for 65!

Sam Cooper Boulevard near Graham Street

Memphis, TennesseeApr 09, 20081 Comments

When exiting off of Sam Cooper to Graham going North, there is a stop sign & most just go on around with out stopping if no traffic is coming. I have been given a
ticket for disregarding a stop sign. The police will sit
in the parking lot of the Exxon at the corner of Summer & Graham & will go out into the street & stop you after you make that turn without stopping.
