Jackson Avenue near Bayliss Avenue

Memphis, TennesseeMar 16, 20080 Comments

North bound Jackson Ave, (SPEED 40 mph) just before Bayliss Ave (and the cemetary) you willsee up to 8 Motorcycle officers, with all their bikes lined up in front of a church. One officer will hug a street lamp pole, with his radar gun, and spot Northboud traffic from the Macon Rd intersection. Just as teh cars round a curve the road is long and straight. The scanning officer will call out the car, and speed, and an officer will walk out into traffic and direct you over. I have seen as many as 5 cars being ticketed at once. They may have an additional police cruiser with them, as they apprehended one fellow the last time. However, this is NOT an everyday occurance. But I have seen it more than 3 times in the last year alone. They will do it for several days in a row, and then not return for months.

Interstate 40 near Mile Marker 20

Memphis, TennesseeFeb 18, 20081 Comments

Highest enforcement and citation rate I have seen in the state. There are often 2-5 unmarked vehicles operating at the same time in the same area. Speed limit drops from 70 MPH to 55 MPH, but traffic flow doew not slow for several miles, giving local government a FANTASTIC source of revenue.

Shelby Drive near Getwell Street

Memphis, TennesseeFeb 12, 20080 Comments

Shelby Drive between Lamar and Getwell, there are peaks and valleys. The posted limit is 45, but you get passed regularly going 55 on all 6 lanes. They like to sit in the valleys, or just over the peaks on the side streets. They’ve been known to pull over more than one car at a time. Honestly, this street is so congested, I don’t know how they can put a radar on anyone, much less multiple cars, but they do.

Southern Avenue near MCclean Boulevard

Unmarked vehicles(crown victorias, suvs, etc.)as well as patrol cars are parked on side streets along the train route.Between the hrs. of 8:30am and 6:30pm.Officers also will stand in the middle of street to make sure you’re buckled up! The HOT SPOT goes all the way to HIGHLAND AND SOUTHERN.

Getwell Road near Winchester Street

Memphis, TennesseeJan 28, 20080 Comments

As soon as you pass Winchester & Getwell at the overpass you go over a bridge and they set up in an old business driveway. As you top the hill they radar you with a hand held unit. Even if you hit your brakes they have already clocked you as you top the hill. They write tickets for anything 5 and over.
