If you go through Brownsville which is basically a boarder town to Mexico located about an hour from south padre Isle, the speed limit is 20 mph on the main drag even though it is a four lane devided road. We were waved down and told that he “estimated”” us doing 40mph- $200! If we chose to fight it we had to appear in person at a later date. We are from Wisconsin so that wasn’t a realistic option. “
Robindale Street near State Highway 48
Speed limit varies from 30 to 40 to 45 between Boca Chica
and Hwy 511. Trap is between Hwy 802 and Hwy 48. Watch
the speed limit and comply.
In front of Amfels Shipyard on Hwy. 48/South Padre Island Hwy.
From Old Hwy. 48 to where the two-lane highway begins, County Sheriff prescence is high, especially on the weekend. The speed-limit is 55 m.p.h., but many want to go faster. I’ve seen as many as five sheriffs patrolling the stretch back and forth, pulling over three different cars at a time.
