I once lived in this town. When I was here the speed limit was 55 till just before town. Now the 70 drops to 55 a couple mile out of town, in the middle of nowhere. There is on old convenience store (Rayburn Hills Grocery) just past the sign where they sit to pull people over. I was stopped driving 72 in a 55. Fine is $235. Asked for deferred adjudication for which the judge charges $50! I have done this before elsewhere and know others that have and have NEVER known of a place to charge for this option. Then I had to pay it electronically which was another $9. Total fine? $294 for "speeding" in the middle of nowhere! Beware.

The speed limit suddenly droped from 70MPH to 55MPH. The police waited only approx. 200ft behind the speed limit sign. I used the GPS. When the speed limit just changed in my GPS, which took approx. 1-2 seconds after passing the sign, I already saw the police very close in front of my car. There was little time for me to reduce the speed even though I tried to do so. I bet the police was trying to measure the vehicle’s speed right when it passed the speed limit sign. It is a very dirty speed trap. The fine is $235 when you are 16-20MPH over limit.

As soon as you see the 55 speed limit sign on Hwy 59 north bound it’s too late the police are at the sign in the turning lane. So if you look to your right to see the speed limit sign you don’t see the police car on the left. Everytime I drive in Corrigan I see them sitting there or pulling some one over. I guess that they are trying to write enough tickets to buy another small town.

My boyfriend has traveled through this town on many occasions. He has received three tickets for speeding. In conversation to someone at work they have received several speeding tickets in Corrigan. The speed limits drop quickly through this town. When leaving the town the speed limit does not pick up to where it should be quickly enough. You are way out of town before it gets to the highest speed limit.
