Los Fresnos, Texas Speed Traps

Town Police take advantage of tourists driving between Expressway 77/83 to South Padre Island.. Ultra strict enforcement of 30 mph within town limits on 4 land highway, in small town not unusual to see 3 or 4 “speeders”” pulled over at the same time.. “

Speed jumps from 70 to 35, police are usually waiting around that area, especially during spring break.
It is a very short distance from the beginning of the town to the end of the town, maybe a half a mile or less.

As the old saying goes,if you blink you’ll probably miss it.

Throughout the whole city, it bases its income of traffic tickets.

Tourists to South Padre Island beware! The town of Los Fresnos is almost bankrupt and the local police seem intent on keeping the town alive by ticketing as many passers-by as possible. ZERO TOLERANCE!!!

A very sad situation. The main problem is HWY 100 which passes through town on the way to South Padre Island. The idea is to get as many people who look like out of towners as possible. This is a place where you can receive a ticket for so little as combing your hair or going 33 in a 30. $$$$ is the goal. I’m sorry that this small town is rather impoverished but stealing is always immoral, shameful behavior.
