Lufkin, Texas Speed Traps
State Route 69 North near 287 Loop
Heading North as you cross over Loop 287 on Hwy 69 NOrth or enter Hwy 69 North from the Loop, you will be topping a hill and that is where the cops sit – in the median lane- and catch folks topping the hill. The speed limit is 50 which is too low for the 4-lane major highway.
287 Loop near FM 2251
Going over the overpass on west loop 287, headed toward hwy 59N, there is usually a police car sitting off the road, bushes blocking view to drivers, stopping cars going in both directions. Speed limit is 55. This is right before you get to McCoys Building Supply.
US Highway 59 near Crown Colony
The speed limit going into town drops from 65 to 45 mph. Along with general trolling, they like to sit across from the Pentecostal church/school at the new red light at College Street. Be careful; its 45 mph all the way until you get to Loop 287 (a good 3-4 miles).
(Hwy 59 at College Street – red light)
287 Loop near Occucare
The speed limit around this loop is 50 …that is crazy…it is always busy. The police car will be past Occucare over the hill on the right in a church parking lot. I go by everyday and someone is getting a ticket. Do not speed around this loop.
287 Loop near Near The Zoo
Nasty little spped trap on loop 287 near the zoo. A cop loves to sit near a pile of gravel the highway department uses. He wears a smokey hat and loves to write tickets with no mercy. Loves to catch people who refuse to buckle up. Once wrote me a ticket and laughed in my face when I explained that I was suffering from the worst case of the runs ever! Why would anyone do this to someone? So don’t look for any favors here.
