West Airport Boulevard near Near Eldridge

On West Airport at Cottonwood watch out for a motorcycle cop hiding in the cornor because it a blind spot for motorists, but sometime there is a patrol car hiding in that street as well. On West Airport between Alston and Stancliff Oaks there is a patrol car hiding behind the trees in the center median break through. The street is curve, so if you drive too fast, you’ll miss it! Normally, traffic enforcement is during daylight hour on that street and it not everyday a cop will catch you speeding. Sugar Land Police Department has officer shortage and crime is everyday life just like big city. If you driving toward Southwest Freeway into the City of Meadows Place. The good news is 1/3 of their patrol force has been layoff due to the down size. Most of their patrol officers now are inexperience and some still in training.

Sugar Land is the target of a big speed (and other traffic law) enforcement sweep. The worst area is on US 59 from Williams Trace Blvd southward to the Grand Parkway/Crabb River Road (FM 99) area. Especially bad weekday afternoons from 5:00pm until midnight. SLPD is regularly in this extra-territorial jurisdiction sitting across from Greatwood. Lots of people getting tickets! Lots of them!
You might see them anytime–this is just what I’ve been seeing. THEY ARE USING LASER. NO WARNINGS. NOT EVEN FROM VALENTINE ONE RADAR/LASER DETECTOR. Sorry. Slow down and go 65 in here. No kidding! SLPD & Troopers are serious about it! They said there’s been some bad wrecks out there lately–and I have to admit seeing some, too.
Also, in the AM rush–cop is making sure you exit to go to UH new campus–and don’t try to cut back in traffic. If you try to cut back in traffic–expect a citation. Your rude behavior will get you undesireable attention!
Good luck navigating this stretch. Go the speed limit, you get run over–speed; you get a ticket. Lose , lose!
Oh one more thing, alcohol = BED & BREAKFAST FOR YOU.
