Wilmer, Texas Speed Traps
Interstate 45 near Beltline Road
Speed limit changes on a 6 lane highway from 65 to 60 and here you will have your speed trap….a cop sits on the entrance ramp lying in wait.
Interstate 45 near Pleasant Run Road
Wilmer PD uses the area between Pleasant Run and Belt Line Roads. There is at least one car ticketed every day I pass through that area. Units park in the median and under the overpasses. Also, Dallas Sheriff’s deputies have been seen working the area as well. It’s marked as a 60MPH zone; they seem to ignore anyone under 70MPH (because there’s always someone going faster).
Interstate 45 near Pleasant Run
North bound traffic has most inforcements. Police generally sit between Beltline Rd. & Pleasant Run on the service road or in the ditch to catch speeders.
Interstate 45 South near Beltline Road and Mars Road Crossing
Policewoman parks cruiser in a ditch near the on ramp for 45. You can only see her in your rear view – mirror.
Interstate 45 near Interstate I-20
After driving 70 MPH for hours along I-45 from Houston, the limit suddenly drops to 65 at the Dallas County line. The Wilmer (small town along I-45) PD is out constantly stopping motorists who are clipping along at 70 to 75 MPH, not having noticed the decrease in the speed limit (there are no large warning signs such as “speed zone ahead”” etc.). It wouldn’t surprise me if the majority of the town’s revenue comes from traffic ticket collections. They have more police cars than most towns twice their size and have the latest in VASCAR equipment.”
