North Branch St.

I live on N Branch St. and see the police sitting at either of these 2 spots at least 5-6 times per month, the posted speed limit is 30 mph if you are doing anything over 30mph you will be pulled over at some point. They have cruisers that sit at the start of Furnace Brook Rd. (just past sit and spin laundry) you can’t see them at all until you are right there, because there is a small downward slope. Also the parking lot of Greenes Oil is huge for speed trap.

State Highway 279 the Bypass near US Highway 7

Bennington, VermontMay 31, 20050 Comments

The Bennington Police have a brand new 55 mph bypass to patrol. It has a weigh station- which is where you can expect impalas, Ka Band Radar, and Laser. 70 is supposedly ok for locals, but the paper showed them stopping people for over 65. This is most common during tourist season and any time when lots of flatlanders come to VT. Like winter, or maybe any Friday night. Their other favorite spot for out-of-towners is on the first section of US 7 following the bypass, at the pullout after the Shaftsbury exit. Expect the same shenanigans, sometimes with multiple cruisers.

State Highway 9 near Side road near Stewart’s

The VT state police like to sit on the sidestreets of VT-9 through Bennington under the cover of dark. If you’re just passing through at night, you’ll barely notice the drop in the speed limit from 50 to 25. Luckily I was pulled over for a headlight being out, but I was clocked at a reasonable rate of speed, so they were watching. In fact, keep an eye out along the entire length of VT-9 from Bennington to Brattleboro.
