Aldie, Virginia Speed Traps
There is a 25 mile an hour zone between 3 Rotaries on Route 50 near Aldie.
The Rotary that are usually staked out at is the one near Gilberts corner. When you drive down from Aldie there is an incline on Route 50. They grab you at the circle and it’s all over.
Even if you have had a perfect record for years they still give you a ticket. They also lie about how much it will cost – the officer said “only about 80 bucks”. Mine was $168.00.
This is the main entrance to Lenah Run, also a rt 50 bypass, Officers sit just below your siteline on this 25 mile an hour road. You actually need to brake or just coasting you’ll go over. Many LR residents have the fines to prove it!
There are 3 places where cops sit and wait for you. One is north of Rt 50 before you hit Evergreen Mills. I think they sit around the firestation/school area. The second is south of Rt 50 but north of Braddock. At night they sit near the small church on the west side. During the day, if there is construction going on they will hide behind or in front of one of the construction vehicles on a very consistent basis. Third, they will park facing south where the gum spring spur going north to rt 50 east hits rt 50 so that if you take the spur and speed they will catch you coming down the small hill. I’ve seen them on hot days just sitting on the front of the car with the radar gun pointed south to get anyone using the spur. Sometimes, they will park sideways and check out drivers on rt 50, but this is not as often as trying to catch people on the spur getting ready to merge with rt 50.
in the new traffic circle , running radar this was 10.04.2008 at about 14:00
Several cops sit in the turning space in the grass median. When goin west bound it is hard to see them cause you are going up hill and there are trees to the leFort Right after this spot there is about 1 mile of straight road often used for street racing. I take this road 3 times every day an see cops All the time. This is about 3/4 of a mile west of Harris Teeter/Stone Ridge
