Route 17 between Deep Creek and NC state line.

Chesapeake, VirginiaFeb 01, 20110 Comments

Mostly unmarked cars (blue and green Chargers with tinted windows) sometimes parked. Sometimes rolling. Can clock you in either direction. This is a real money maker for the city of Chesapeake. The road is wide open country four lanes and a large physical median strip. The speed limit is only 55 and 10 mph over will get you a very expensive ticket. And you will get pulled for 10 over. Once into the NC the speed limit goes to 60 and then to 70.

State troopers are always there as their State Police Barracks is off of Greenbriar Parkway. Which is between these two points…

168 Bypass near approximately .5 miles north

Chesapeake, VirginiaJul 14, 20080 Comments

Travelling North on the 168 bypass just north of the toll booths. Mostly ocurring Thursdays through Saturdays. Those vacationing travellers "bolting" out of the booths after paying the toll travel up and over the "hill" vieing for position before the lanes are reduced from four to two. Two or three motorcycle officers accompanied sometimes by a patrol car sit in median facing south on the 168 bypass at the bottom of the overpass to old Battlefield Blvd waiting for unsuspecting motorists to fly over top.

Starts out at 55mph for 3.8 miles, then to 45mph for .1 mile, then to 35 for less than .3 miles, then right back to 55mph. Officer has the option to nail you in the 45 or the more expensive 35mph. Court costs and fine of under 10mph run about $150. Decent attorney runs $200 if you want one.
