Kennewick, Washington Speed Traps
4th and Vancouver at the Midtown Plaza
Police will park the car, turn off their lights, and wait in any time of day. You don’t see them when driving from 10th and Vancouver to 4th until you pass 5th Ave. and the fence. They are right next to the Old Spaghetti Est.
Canal Drive at intersection of N. Volland past the overpass
The right turn from N. Volland to climb the hill on Canal Drive heading east, at about the top of the hill a KPD squad car parks on top of that grade, OFF the road on the unfinished sidewalk or drive way under the trees next to the fence. Acceleration is needed at this hill to keep traffic behind you from rear ending you almost. Watch that you don’t over accelerate.
Highway 397 (Chemical Drive) at about 25th ave.
Officer will sit off highway in gravel or dirt area, early morning or night with lights off.
Deschutes and Georgia St.
A motorcycle officer often sits, hidden on Georgia St. in the turnabout soon after the Exxon gas station.
South end of Cable Bridge
Any time there are lane closures or construction on the Blue Bridge, (hwy 395) a state patrol trooper loves to sit like a vulture in a tree waiting for his next victim. He usually parks in the old miniature golf place’s parking lot, then swoops out when you come down the bridge’s steep slope a little too fast into Kennewick. (The limit is 40 MPH on the bridge itself, dropping to 35 at the end) The blue bridge closures especially prompt this trap to nab people who are bypassing the traffic mess on 395 by dog-legging over to the Cable Bridge.
