The city police set back behind the small brick building that is at the techinical school or where Patterson Lake Rd starts. They do give out tickets even if you are 2 to 5 miles over the limit.

George Douthit Rd. on Jacksonville High School property   Jacksonville, Alabama

Right off of George Douthit is Jacksonville High School and the JHS football/soccer field. If going towards hwy 21 at night or very early in the morning many times you will see a JPD officer sitting at the far end of the property parallel to the open gates to the field/track on the right side of the road. Most times it is hard to distinguish whethere the reflective tape on the open gates is the reflective stickers going down the side of the police car or the relective tape on the gates. Several times I have thought it was just the gates to only see that the police car blends in perfectly with the gates. This is an especially good spot to catch people coming from the opposite direction(coming from hwy 21 towards James Hopkins Rd, Cotton Creek, Kaitlyn Court) because you can't see them until it's too late due to the trees covering your view. Speed limit is 25 mph on this road because of the school but I rarely see anyone do that limit. Average speed is 35-45. I have been clocked doing 35 and they stayed put.

US Highway 21 near State Route 204   Jacksonville, Alabama

On Route 21, From Highway 204 North past JSU & blinking light at 11th St., Police routinely sit back in parking lots. The most coverage seems to be at night and on weekends, when JSU isn't in session. Ocasionally patrol cars are around the corner at the amphitheater/Stone Ctr.

State Highway 21 near Gold's Gym   Jacksonville, Alabama

This is not a daily trap. Jacksonville Police usually do speed traps when they are short on quotas or a major event within the city, such as a sporting event, is taking place. I have seen police sitting in the parking lot at the corner of Pelham Road (Alabama 21) and Vann Street near Gold's Gym. Speed limit drops from 35 to 25 there and stays 25 all the way to 11th Street at the north end of the city. This is almost always late at night. Tolerance is No More than 5 Miles over the speed limit. Jacksonville is the only city in Calhoun County with a speed limit of 25 on a state of federal route.

Speeding Tickets

You deserve every speeding ticket you get. You can complain all you want after the fact, but it's true.
Find out why.

It's one of the "great" American past times: complaining about unfair speeding tickets. There are two types of people when it comes to complaining about this particular type of traffic ticket. Which group are you in?
