Barrington, Illinois Speed Traps
Haegers Bend off of Algonquin/River Rd
This street has no speed limit posted for a good mile or so after you turn in from Algonquin/River Rd. The speed limit is supposedly 25 and this is where a cop was hiding out to clock me. He was facing south right before Chapel Rd sitting in a spot right as I accelerated to go uphill. He cut me a ticket for supposedly going 17 over (which I don’t agree at all). It is very clear that they are there to trap you.
Rte 59 just south Cuba Rd
the speed limit drops from 45 to 35, and they hide off on the west side on one of the side streets. Will get you for 10 over. slightly downhill, so it’s easy to coast into a speeding ticket.
Dundee Avenue and Monument Ave
The patrol car tucks his car in the cemetery and catches you as your car picks up speed down the hill.
US Highway 14/ Northwest Hwy. near State Route 59 to Hart Road
When headed southeast into Barrington, the speed limit first drops to 45 from 55 right after Hart Road, Then in about 500 ft at North ave/ old Northwest Hwy the speed limit drops to 35. They sit in the dodge dealership mostly and with their new fleet of dodge charger cop cars they camouflage well. They also sit in other parking lots up to route 59.
US Highway Rand Rd – US 12
Sheriff sits on center median, often after heavy snow so he is able to "hide" behind snowpiles along median – in my opinion this is unsafe. He monitors traffic going in both directions – usually during daylight hours.
