On the Atlanta Highway, passing Federal Dr police are on motorcycles sitting up in the Forest Hill shopping center. Continuing up Atlanta Hwy, they are in the church parking lots in marked and unmarked cars, especially after 10pm.

There are two speed traps on Virginia Loop Road

Montgomery, AlabamaApr 24, 20100 Comments

There are two speed traps on Virginia Loop Road between Fitzpatrick Elementary School and Troy Hwy/ US 231: 1) Police like to hide in the “Power Substation/ Transfomer” and catch unsuspecting motorists driving east towardes US 231/ Troy Hwy, at the point where there is a sharp decreasing grade that results in exceeding the 35 mph speed limit at the bottom of the grade and 2) Police like to park during night in the parking lot of Child Care Facility, where sometimes the parking lights are mysteriously off, which creates a dark shadowy effect, although sufficient street light surrounds the area, there is no way to notice the police until blue lights are illuminated and motorists are usually unsuspectingly traveling 5-10 mph over the 35 mph limit because of the half mile of steady decreasing grade while driving east towards US 231/ Troy Hwy.

Motorcycle police hide all along the street with radar but also look for lesser known things like not signaling to changing lanes, not staying in turning lane, improper headlights, etc.

Wares Ferry Road past Froggy Bottom near the cemetary

Montgomery, AlabamaMar 17, 20100 Comments

When you approach the cemetary going West, the speed limit dips to 35. As the road curves to the left, there is a policeman sitting in the exit of the cemetary. The speed limit approaching is 40, but you are coming from a sparsely populated area and usually catch yourself going over 40 already because it seems like you are in the country. Then wham, it is 35 and you are caught. It cost me and my daughter 126.00 each.
