Lore Road at Petersburg

Anchorage, AlaskaMay 05, 20100 Comments

Not so much a speed trap but rather a prolific spot to catch stop sign runners. Lore Road at Petersburg is a three-way stop. Police will park on Petersburg about 200 feet from the intersection. Drivers travelling West on Lore are targeted. Drivers’ views are obstructed by a fence and often make a rolling stop at that stop sign. By the time you see the cop, you are already through the stop sign and they light you up immediately.

Hartzell Road between Abbott and Lore

Anchorage, AlaskaMay 05, 20100 Comments

Unmarked black cruiser sits on Hartzell in the dip in the road facing north (by a fire hydrant and near Specialty Truck and Auto). Those drivers travelling south on Hartzell from Lore are targeted. This is a 25 mph zone in what looks like an industrial, uninhabited area.

This is a school zone that is targeted when the school zone lights are flashing. Usually directed at Southbound Minnesota Traffic, although sometimes northbound as well. The officer, sometimes a car sometimes a motorcycle, usually will hide behind the fence just past the Romig Middle School zone, before the gas station at Minnesota and Northern Lights Blvd.
