Anchorage, Alaska Speed Traps
New Dowling connection to Elmore
On the newly constructed connection, there are usually cruisers (both marked and unmarked) sitting on either side of the road. Going eastbound, there is a marked cruiser sitting in a small lot hidden by trees about 200 feet from the light. Going West, after you come down the small hill, there is a cop sitting in a small parking spot, next to the dead end sign. Speed limit is 45, though it isn’t unlikely to look down and see yourself going 55.
A Street and 16th Ave.
As you come down the hill toward town, an unmarked is often situated on the left, on 16th, partially hidden by the sign with the office complex name on it. Has been seen using radar and working in tandem with a marked car situated on 13th – an area where the limit drops from 45 to 35 (to 20 when school is in session).
Between Raspberry Rd and Dimond, South Bound
The car waits btween the "on" ramp, S. bound from Raspberry Rd and south bound Minnesota Blvd. This is on the back side of the overpass hill so cant be seen untill the top of the hill.
36 street between Lake Otis and LaTouche’
……unmarked on sidewalk sitting across from David Green Park by Macinnes St.. Posted 35 but all winter long most (like myself) are doing 50…heads up.
Brayton Drive between Dimond Blvd. and Dowling Road
Unmarked black cruiser sits somewhere on Brayton around the American Legion or a bit further North. Speed limit is 45 mph, though most people try to get up to highway speeds since they are travelling parallel to the Seward Highway. Almost every morning, the cop has a customer.
