Goodyear, Arizona Speed Traps
On the loop 303 between I-10 and Indian School Rd
The speed limit on the loop 303 drops from 55 mph to 45 mph, then to 35 mph rather quickly. A highway patrol cruiser sits on Thomas Rd on the West Side of the 303. He spends several hours of the mid day ticketing motorist. If you’re pulled over, you won’t be given a warning.
On Cotton Ln between Indian School Rd and Camelback Rd
On Cotton Ln the speed limit is 50 mph the entire length except for the 1 mile stretch between Indian School Rd and Camelback Rd. Traffic travels about 55 mph. Most people don’t know the speed limit is reduced on this stretch of road. There is usaully an unmarked highway patrol car parked down a prepaved deadend street (unnamed/not in use yet) far enough back so by the time you see him it’s too late.
Cotton Lane south of Gila River
Officers park their vehicles facing north either well off the road on the east shoulder or in a paved turnoff on the west side. They clock southbound motorists who have just gone over a steep rise and started on a downhill grade. The road is wide-open and lightly traveled and the speed limit is unreasonably low. GPD runs radar most often on the two downhill grades in the city…even if you were going the speed limit before you started your decent, if you didn’t take your foot off the gas, you could easily be speeding w/o knowing it.
Estrella Mountain Parkway near South of Gila river bridge, bottom of hill, in median,
Goodyear police in median of road just up from the golf course. They sit facing up the hill and are using laser to nab cars coming down hill.
303 Loop near Camelback Road
Maricopa County Sherriff’s Department and Arizona DPS have stepped up enforcement on this stretch of Loop 303 due to a high number of fatal accidents. Everyone likes to haul butt on this road, and the buses and trucks act as if they own it. In other words, four wheelers who just want to do the speed limit are not all that welcome. I would avoid this road at all costs.
