Phoenix, Arizona Speed Traps
Camelback Road near 19th Avenue
Look out for Photo Radar set up on Camelback Road just past 19th Ave. I never saw photo radar in Phoenix until today. I was going 40 in a 35 mile zone. They had a sign, but there’s really not enough time to slow down because the van is right there just a few feet after the warning sign. It’s real easy to go over if you’re not paying attention. I’m not sure if I’m going to get a ticket or not. I went back there around noon and they were gone.
Interstate 10 near US Highway 60
Speed limit on 10 from the US 60 through Phoenix is a ridiculous 55 MPH, but the flow of traffic often goes 65+, and odds are you won’t get pulled over for anything below 70. Be careful, though–if you’re in the left lane, it’s easy to get going fast, and DPS cars will do 75-80 in the left lane and HOV lane looking to see who’s matching their speed or going faster. Reckless? You bet. Necessary? Unfortunately, it probably is.
Interstate 10 near 48 Street
City of Phoenix Motorcycle cop sets hidden some where in this area and will use paceing as the type of enforcement.
Cotton Center Boulevard near 40th Street
This Speed Trap is located at Cotton Center Blvd. between 40th Street and 48th Street. The speed limit is 25, the Police are on motorcycles and they hang out in the driveway entrances to buildings in the area.
Greenway Parkway near 7th Avenue
If you are traveling Westbound on Greenway Pkwy, the speed limit quickly drops from 45 down to 35 right around the School on 7th Ave and Greenway. Two motorcycle cops sit at the entrance of a trailer park just east of 7th Ave and run rader for all vehicles traveling east bound in the morning.
