I 805 (Northbound) from Telegraph Canyon Road

Both California Highway patrol and Chula Vista motorcycle police will set up at the top of the ramp where you can’t see them and watch for cars turning illegally from the center lane on Telegraph Canyon Road into the car pool lane. Technically, this is not a speed trap, but they set up here very often and catch a lot of cars turning illegally, or single drivers in the car pool.

On L street on the downhill side of the elementary school

Chula Vista, CaliforniaMar 11, 20100 Comments

Police stand at L street with radar guns and shoot drivers as they come over the hill from 805 direction. The hill is posted 25 but most go 40 even by the school. The police stand between the top of the hill and the school so a driver can’t see them until you are right up to them. The police motion you into a cul d sac and there are four or five of them writing tickets.

Orange Avenue

When on Orange Ave, there is a downhill slope and a curve. The posted speed limit is 35 mph. The Chula Vista PD has officers with a LIDAR on the median, between Jade and Jasper, waiting for you to speed downhill and past the turn. Since it is a turn, the police are not visible and by the time you spot them you have already been hit by the radar.

The officers will stand in the street and block you from going past them and will direct you to a cul de sac on Jade where there is a team of officers issuing citations.

Anofficer bragged that they normally issue over 150 citations per night.

Third Avenue

Most of the time I see this trap on the SB side, but there has been times they had it running NB. Posted speed limit on Third between H" and "E" is 25 MPH. A few years back from "H" to "F" was 30 MPH but they lowered it. Most people drive at the speed of 35 MPH."
