Irvine, California Speed Traps
Irvine Boulevard near Palo Lado Street
Motorcycle officer sits on center divider of Irvine Blvd. or on Palo Lado at the signal/crosswalk approx. midway between Yale and Culver.
Interstate 405 near Bake Parkway
This trap is located on the Bake Parkway off-ramp of I405 North, underneath an over-pass. Since this exit is also a "Truck Lane" diversion that returns to the freeway after the Bake exit, the flow of traffic is fast, and there is a perfect hiding spot for a CHP patrol car under the bridge on the right as you exit the freeway. Usually see a car 2 or 3 out of 5 mornings a week.
Irvine Boulevard near Culver Drive
Between Culver and Yale there’s this random stop light for a crosswalk. There’s a middle divider which motorcycle cops Love to wait at. The speed limit is 50 but on that long strip people tend to speed and they always get somebody. I drove by that spot six times one night and each time there was someone getting a ticket!
Jamboree Boulevard near Warner Avenue
Irvine police will use radar to monitor speed of cars traveling southbound on Jamboree in morning hours. Limit is 60 mph at this point and many drivers exceed that limit in the morning hours. Ticketing usually occurs if drivers exceed 65mph.
133 Expressway near 405 Expressway
CHP Officer parks in the shade under street overpass bridge in either east or west direction. Officer stands outside their patrol car and uses laser gun to target oncoming traffic. This is not radar— it is laser.
