La Mesa, California Speed Traps
Northbound Lake Murray Drive after exiting 8 west.
Is a wide two lane road with a divider. No businesses, no sidewalks and it is uphill then levels off. The speed limit there is 35mph which is very slow with regards to conditions concerning visibility, width of road, surface, traffic and whether there is an element of danger to persons and property. La Mesa police officers go up the side drive of an old Ice skating rink and clock speeders using radar all the time.
JAckson Drive, between Dallas St. and Fletcher Parkway
La Mesa P.D. in cruisers and on motorcycles hide in the parking lot for the park, particularly at night. They operate Radar or Laser, and clock drivers headed up the hill from Fletcher toward Dallas.
I-8 Eastbound ramp off of Fletcher Parkway
La Mesa cycle cop sits at the top of the onramp with his radar gun pointed towards oncoming traffic. Believe speed limit going up onramp is 35 and is very easy to exceed that coming off of Fletcher Parkway.
Amaya Drive-between Severin Dr and Primrose
Although this section of road has now been broken up with a stop sign at Water Street, and contains two "speed limit is 30 your speed is…." speed radar monitoring signs (on both sides of Amaya) there is still the odd time I see motorists being pulled over for speeding which is very easy to do on this section of road.
Jackson Drive at Fletcher Parkway
La Mesa police are parking on the street, using radar guns to catch anyone going over the posted speed limit of 35 mph. They also will position themselves in the apartment parking lots along that stretch of Jackson Drive.
