Los Angeles, California Speed Traps
Washington Boulevard near Abbot Kinney Boulevard
Between Abbot Kinney and Via Marina, it is very common to see cars getting tickets from motorcycle cops in both directions.
I have never received a ticket, but have observed them parked between cars on the North side of Washington Blvd., radar gun in hand.
M. L. King Boulevard near Vermont Avenue
Corner of Vermont and King right by the gas station near Manual Arts High a couple of cops on "bicycles" sit behind a tree. As traffic sits awaiting the green light they pull car over to the side. Not sure for what reasons, but one of the cars I’ve seen pulled over had dark tint front windows, and another had really loud music. Becareful! People dont expect to be pulled over while at a complete stop at an intersection and specially not by a cop on a "bicycle"
Sunset Boulevard near Charles E. Young Drive
Traveling East on Sunset there is a turn before the street makes a long descent downhill. A motorcycle cop waits at the driveway into UCLA, sheltered from view by trees. I was waiting for a bus for about 45 minutes and saw him pull over at least 5 cars.
6th Street near Boyle Avenue
This is the 6th Street Bridge. In the AM rush hour, going towards Downtown, there is a motorcycle cop in the middle of the bridge. You can’t see him before the curve but after the curve he is visible. If you use caution coming out of that 1st curve you’ll be okay.
During the PM rush hour (usually between 3pm and 6pm) there’s a motorcycle cop waiting at the 101 freeway entrance. Use EXTREME caution since you can’t see this cop until it’s too late. Go slow around that same dreaded curve (from the AM), the curve that’s close to Boyle Ave just after the Freeway entrance.
Overland Avenue near Exposition Avenue
A motorcycle policeman hides on Exposition. People going south on Overland to get to the 10 freeway often speed as early morning the road is not that busy. He isn’t there all the time but by the time he is dicovered, it’s too late. Those who know slow down when passing that street just in case he is there. Sometimes there are two and they catch people all morning.
