Santa Clara, California Speed Traps
Mission college blvd; by Mercado 20 theaters.
Motorcycle cop hides behind the bushes in the Church parking lot corner furthest from the church (corner by 101 freeway), very hard to see. He gets people going back to Great America PKWY.
Lafayette Street at El Camino Real; north to underpass
Immediately off of El Camino, Lafayette Street passes through a residential area; thus, it becomes an immediate 30 MPH zone.
This also begins an immediate and steep descent into a non-pedestrian railroad underpass.
First time a CHP peace officer was observed perched in a partially obscured niche … too late; just after accelerating around a road boulder.
There was also a Santa Clara rover shagging other speeders as well.
Try not to be harsh in here; they are working hard to prevent us from hurting ourselves.
Lick Mill Boulevard and East River Parkway
When heading south on Lick Mill, speed limit is 35, but when reaching Garrity a slight right curve starts, and then a sign with a 25 MPH school limit appears (invisible before you complete the slight right turn). No matter how fast you push the brakes, a police officer with radar is ready for you in the corner with East River.
San Tomas Expressway and El Camino Real
Heading towards Stevens Creek Blvd., between 5:00-6:00 PM, there is a motorcycle cop on the right corner near the bus stop monitoring the carpool lane. This is during the high traffic times when San Tomas Expressway lanes merge into 2 lanes after the El Camino Real light. Solo drivers avoid this location by taking the carpool lane and are caught.
Lawrence Expressway/Cabrillo
Occasionally during the morning commute between 7:45am and 8:45am (When traffic is peaking) a motorcycle cop will post up on the corner island on Lawrence and Cabrillo looking for carpool violations. The problem with this is that if you just merged from El Camino Real or Lawrence Road there is not enough time to move out of the carpool lane safely as traffic is bumper to bumper. Especially if the Cabrillo light is red. So he sees you in carpool pulls you over and tickets you. That’s why you always see a cop at the Shell on Lawrence and Monroe ticketing someone. It’s the first place to pull over after passing Cabrillo.
