Evergreen, Colorado Speed Traps
I-70 Eastbound, East of Exit 254 (Genesee)
At exit 254 the speed limit drops from 65 to 55. That is the beginning of a 6% downhill grade. The highway patrol regularly enforces this with teams of as many as four cars, some of which are unmarked. They often have a radar unit on the overpass at exit 256. If you pass one patrol car, don’t assume you are home free- there will be more. Jefferson County Sheriff also is also active in this area.
US Highway 74
Right before the Upper Bear Creek Rd turn off, by Evergreen Lake, Jeffco Sheriff parks behind trees in the park entrance, speed limit drops from 45mph to 30mph. They are there at all times every day of the week.
County Trunk Highway 73 near Road to Dump
The police sit back on the road to the dump and use all types of radar, but usually Laser. They are there at all times of the day, but usually before 6 am. They will let you go as long as you are under 44 mph, the posted speed limit is 35 mph.
Evergreen Parkway near Kerr Gulch Road
Policing of this trap is usually only for east bound traffic on this divided highway. Cruisers sit along the left shoulder, along a curve and slight incline. About 500 feet before Kerr Gulch Road.
