Platt Canyon Road near Bowles Avenue

Littleton, ColoradoSep 04, 20070 Comments

Police are always using radar to catch drivers going over the school zone limit. They hide out in the entryway to Columbine Valley/Burning Tree and stand at the side of the road with a radar gun. This is a daily occurance.

Bowles Avenue near Platte Canyon Road/Lowell Boulevard

Littleton police regularly pull over speeding vehicles in the area between Grant Ranch Blvd and Platte Canyon Road/Lowell Blvd. In the morning it usually affects only eastbound traffic, and the police are very hard to see on the side roads joining Bowles. Usually they stand well in front of their vehicles with a Radar gun, so all you notice is a person standing on the sidewalk pointing something at you as you drive by. They are there several times a week. Posted speed limit is 35, slowing from the 40mph posted just before Grant Ranch Blvd. They usually won’t pull you over if you’re going 40, but 45 is pushing your luck. They also have a regular speed trap in the mornings at Federal Blvd and Bowles as well for eastbound traffic. I got a ticket there, but pled it down to no points and a ticket for obstructed view instead of speeding, and I was going about 52 in a 35.

Bowles Avenue near Federal Boulevard

Littleton police park in the bus lane on Bowles, just where Federal Blvd dead-ends at Bowles. They use multiple vehicles and officers to pull over eastbound speeders. It’s 35mph – they don’t usually pull you over unless you’re going over 45, and then you can usually plead down to no points and something other than speeding if you’re courteous.

Santa Fe Drive near Belleview Avenue

Littleton, ColoradoJun 08, 20070 Comments

The section of Santa Fe about a block north of the Belleview exit to Bowles Ave is a favorite for Littleton police. I’ve seen them set up speed traps for both north and south bound Santa Fe at all different times of day. It’s posted 45 mph on Sante Fe, but since Santa Fe has the look and feel of a highway, it’s very easy to surpass this limit, and anything close to 55 will get you pulled over.

Mineral Avenue near Arapahoe Highschool

The police are looking for people exceeding the 25mph. If you are turning West from University, you may never even see the flashing sign. The police are typically just west of the school.
