Westminster, Colorado Speed Traps
US Highway 36 near W. 92nd Avenue
About a half mile to a quarter mile before you reach 92nd Avenue andn Highway 36, the speed limit drops from 65 to 55. I usually see unmarked gray, biege or sometimes white Chevrolet-model cruisers. Anyhow, they usually have someone over to the side of the highway most any day of the week, any time of day. Just thought you all would like to know.
US Highway 36 near 104th Avenue
Police will face East bound traffic on top of Southbound turning eastbound on-ramp from 104th AVE. Police will use a stopwatch. Watch for the white lines on the HWY.
I36 to 270 flyover Eastbound
This flyover was just finished, and already it’s being used.
The LH side after the actual bridge is very wide, wide enough for two more lanes.
Thursday afternoon about 1600, there were two state police cars – a cruiser and a camaro interceptor – tucked in just after the bridge, where the LH side widens. It’s just past the crest of the hill, so you can’t see it until it’s much too late. The two of them were both standing outside their cars and getting a good laugh out of the driver’s reactions.
Independence – side road that takes you from Wadsworth to 88th
As you’re rounding the curve on Independence, the speed limit is 25 mph and cops hide on the neighborhood streets. They’ll pull you over for 29 and over. Be esp. careful going down the hill because it’s easy to go over and it’ll be hard to see the cops.
Wadsworth between 100th and 108th
Welcome to the Laser Radar capital of Colorado. It’s like they invented it here. My rule: If you’re in Westminster, don’t speed – whether it’s on the well-known trap under 36 at federal or on 96th cresting the hills between Wadsworth and Sheridan.
