Fort Myers, Florida Speed Traps
Orange Grove Boulevard near Hancock Bridge Parkway
This is a 4 lane divided road and gives the appearance of one which could be posted at 45 mph but is posted at 30 mph.
Altough it has a school crossing zone during limited hours, the speed trap enforcement is done mostly outside times that children would use this location. Unmarked cars are used as well as marked units and motorcyles that frequently conceal themselves. I am a retired law enforcement officer and still feel that this site is used excessively and inappropriately.
Michigan Link Road near Marsh Avenue
Coming on to Michigan Link from DR. Martin Luther King Blvd, Traveling Michigan Link to Marsh Ave, Turn right, Officer sits about 50 feet from Michigan Link And Nails you with RADAR. He May Let you off the speeding if your nice, only to give a disobey traffic control device ticket instead. They are both moving violations, so what break where you given????, be careful
Interstate 75 near Lehigh exit
The Police lay in wait going east from the Lehigh Acres exit on Lee Blvd. right before the first bridge and under the underpass. Watch your speed.
Old US 41 (Fowler St), Northbound, just as you come over the Edison Bridge
They particularly like to do this in the morning but I have seen it in the afternoons too. As you crest the bridge, you cannot see the end as it curves. The deputies park in the median at the foot of the bridge and set up their radar on a tripod with binoculars and they will have officers waiting in the wings to jump into action. I would not be bothered by it so but a 45 MPH speed limit on a 6 lane road seems a bit slow for me. (and, NO, I have not been ticketed there)
