Hurlburt Field Road
This is a four lane roadway posted as 25 MPH with part of it posted as 35 MPH. Roadway is less than a mile in length between Martin Luther King Blvd and Beal Parkway. Both of which are of the same number of lanes and posted as 45 MPH. This is a main traffic route and deputies are consistently using radar to give out speeding tickets. Similar 4 lane roadways with streets leading to residential homes and/or a few residential homes are posted as 35 MPH. This roadway is a mixture of business and residential zones.
Memorial Drive Between Hollywood Dr. and Hwy. 98
Fort Walton police sit in the parking lot of a business near Hollywood Dr. and monitor traffic coming off Hwy. 98 onto Memorial. The speed limit is 25mph. They will write you a ticket for going over 5 mph on this stretch.
Hwy 98 East Okaloosa Island
As you approach the Destin bridge, the limit drops to 45 and then quickly to 35. They like to hide in the median, especially after dark, catching you as you come down the bridge or if you fail to slow down enough approaching the bridge/Coast Guard station. Be careful!

Beal Parkway between Yacht Club Drive and Memorial Pkwy.
Fort Walton Beach Police traditionally sit on the crest of the hill (the old ALLTELL Building parking lot). Speed drops from 45 to 35 in that area. Can be seen weekdays and weekends, different shifts. Please let other drivers know if you see them there by flashing your lights to slow them down. Let’s help others save a ticket.
