Athens, Georgia Speed Traps
Riverbend Road near Milledge Avenue
Coming from College Station Road going towards Milledge Ave., there are no speed limit signs posted until near the end of Riverbend Road, where there is a curve and a motorcycle cop sitting right behind a 40 mph sign that is the only speed limit sign down this entire road. If you’re coming from Milledge Ave, going towards College Station, however, there is a speed limit sign posted near the beginning of the road, which clearly puts drivers coming from College Station at a disadvantage.
College Station Road near Research Drive
Heading south on College Station, south of Research Dr until Barnett Shoals. For reasons I don’t understand, the speed limit drops from 45 to 35. If you actually do 35, people will swerve around you and swear at you. And yet, cops looooove to ticket in this stretch.
US Highway 10 bypass near Exit Number Commerce Road
Traveling south west on the 10 bypass, cops will be just past the exit (north of exit) in the median or side of Hwy with no lights on just shooting taxpayers with lazers at the bottom of the hill. It could be any time of the day, mainly at night after 10pm.
College Station Road near International Drive
1) A motorcycle unit will hide in the bushes across from International Dr. and clock people with laser (going towards Barnett Shoals)
2) A unit will sit and radar from the parking lot before Research (heading away from Barnett Shoals, toward Loop 10)
Broad Street near Alps Road
This is actually a few lights before you hit Alps Rd, if you’re coming from downtown. Once you hit the bottom of the hill, I’ve seen two or more units sitting there, Radaring Ka band.
